Modern hermits in the jacuzzi
The first work by Bates and Maher with the rather unusual name "poustinia", located in Glencomeragh near the village of Kilsheelan in Co. Tipperary, attracted international attention. With this project these architects have won a number of important awards such as the "Regional Award 2005" of the RIAI (Royal Institute of the Architects of Ireland) and the OPUS Architecture & Construction Award 2005. In addition this year they received the "Downes Bronze Medal", that is awarded by the Architectural Association of Ireland and that, despite the word "bronze" in the title, is one of the country's most prestigious awards in the field of architecture.
