 – A textbook illustration of modern, sustainable, site specific and symbolically iconographic architecture stands as an addition to the renowned University of Arizona College of Architecture and Landscape Architecture. Jones Studio, Inc., which designed this exemplar building, conceived it to be the embodiment of the College’s 50-year emphasis on environmentally conscientious, energy-efficient, modernity (light years before such concerns became in vogue.) more

How much ecology does industry need?

 – There are many different conceivable ways in which ecological and technological questions can be linked. In Aalen in Württemberg the Fachhochschule für Technik und Wirtschaft (University of Technology and Economics) shows that, through the measured use of "green" building services, the careful selection of materials, a high-quality external shade system and large storage mass, a university building can achieve good energy values – and with a remarkable level of design. Green low-tech in a high-tech university: does this mean that, precisely for engineers in the economy, the incorporation of sophisticated technical equipment in sustainable building is not an issue? more
