Green Leadership and People-Centered Development
Holistic and transferable approaches to reducing the impact of everyday urban life on the earth’s resources, while supporting a behaviour-changing responsiveness based on responsibility rather than on convenience are the focus of the ANCB programme Responsive City. Combining Local Knowledge with Digital Systems. Oslo is European Green Capital of the Year 2019 and aims to put its inhabitants at centre stage: Technology-friendly population. Car-free city centre. Inter-disciplinary collaborations. Children’s participation. Green leadership. Few hierarchies. Digital services. Carbon-free construction sites – are central keywords in the city’s strategy. Knowledge exchange on these issues at an international level and building networks for politicians, city administrators, practitioners and researchers is becoming increasingly important. In this context, the Norwegian capital has one special benefit; it is small enough to test new solutions, but big enough for new solutions to be scaled up to larger cities. Protagonists from Oslo from the fields of city planning, architecture and academia share their strategies and insights on low-carbon cities, digital urban living and car-free urban scenarios and discuss what Berlin can learn from the latest strategies behind city planning in Oslo.
